It’s Pizza Time

The other day I got the chance to hang out with my friend Marley at her house and we made homemade pizza.Surprisingly, it turned out delish! I’ll list out the recipe for the dough below as well as our “cooking process.” There were a few “experiments” here and there throughout this cooking process. Also, keep in mind, this is my first time making homemade pizza, and I actually found it to be quite easy for such a delicious piece. I’m actually hoping to try out this recipe again sometime in the near future.

The pizza dough recipe was one of those speedy less-than-30-minutes-wait-despite-having-yeast kinda recipes.

Recipe

  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups of bread flour
  • 1 package of yeast (.25 oz)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • t tsp white sugar

Our Experimentation: Most people use all-purpose flour, we found a recipe that calls for bread flour (oops…we couldn’t find any all-purpose flour, but it worked out just as well, perhaps even better), a tiny bit of honey for more flavor in the dough

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast & sugar in warm water
  2. Let that mixture sit for about 10 minutes
  3. Stir in flour, oil & salt together until smooth
  4. Let rest for 5 minutes
  5. Roll out dough, be sure to sprinkle more flour as needed

**Unfortunately, I have no pictures of this process. My hands were covered in too much of a mess!**

Then, we filled our pizza with toppings over a light coat of tomato sauce. Our pizza consisted of lots and lots of cheese, pepperoni, a splash of spinach, some prosciutto, and more cheese.

Then, we preheated the oven to 450*c. And, after it was done preheating, we stuck our pizza in. The recipe we used advised us to leave the pizza in for about 15-20 minutes, but after about 8 minutes, the pizza seemed ready. We pulled out our glorious masterpiece, and let it cool for a couple minutes before slicing it. and quickly consuming it all.

We had a blast making this pizza, and enjoyed eating it even more. Also, we were especially pleased that it tasted as good as it looked! 10/10 will repeat. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy it equally as much if you try it out at home!
